DIETARY:
ROLE SUMMARY: 
The Food Service Worker performs a variety of food services duties such as portioning and serving food, tea, coffee and toast, and cleaning and sanitizing work areas according to established procedures, standards and operational requirements; laundry duties using domestic washer and dryer. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  1. Assembles food items at workstation, including, positioning and operating equipment. Portions out and serves food and beverages for residents
  2. Prepares food items, including counting, weighing or measuring as appropriate, such as fruits, vegetables, tea, coffee and toast. Washes, peels, trims, pares, cuts, slices and stores vegetables and fruit as required.
  3. Sets up and delivers meal trays and or/ or supply carts to residents and dining areas, and picks up as assigned.
  4. Dismantles workstation, puts away food, supplies and equipment, wash equipment and cleans up area. Stock service area, discarding items beyond expiry date, and replenishes supplies as required.
  5. Operates dispensing machines. Puts away and brings out supplies as required.
  6. Assembles such items as salads and sandwiches.
  7. Performs clerical duties such as writing information on menu cards and checking cards against lists.
  8. Washes dishes, wares, utensils and equipment as required. Operates dishwashing and/ or pot washing machines and equipment. Spot washes walls and splash areas. Removes garbage and recycling as required. Cleans and sanitizes dining and server area, equipment, dishes and wares. Sweeping and damp mopping floors in dining and server areas.
  9. Sorts, folds, counts and records linen for control purposes.
  10. Loads and unloads domestic washers and dryers, operates same by selecting wash cycles, setting temperatures and switching machines on and off.
  11. Loads and unloads tumblers, conditioners, and extractors.
  12. Performs other related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  2. Grade 10 or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  3. Current certification in Food Safe
  4. Skills and Abilities:

HOUSEKEEPING:
ROLE SUMMARY: 
Under the direction of the Manager, Support Services and in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures, this position performs security duties such as checking to ensure doors and windows are secure; responds to overnight emergency pendant calls from Assisted and Supportive Living residents; performs heavy cleaning duties, empties garbage and replenishes supplies in accordance with established infection control procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  1. Performs security duties for the facility such as checking that doors and windows are secure, escorting unwelcome visitors out of the building, and obtaining appropriate services in emergencies such as calling Administration on call or Maintenance on call.
  2. Observes client behaviour, investigates and handles disturbances, deals with client emergencies in accordance with guidelines.
  3. Keeps external areas such as entranceways, sidewalks, and parking lots clear by removing the snow or applying salt as directed.
  4. Cleans, washes, and disinfects building areas such as walls, windows, ceilings, floors, carpets, air vents, furniture, mattresses, blinds, and washrooms by methods such as dusting, polishing, vacuuming, sweeping, wet mopping, shampooing, waxing, and buffing, using various manual and power cleaning equipment.
  5. Uses and handles a variety of cleaning supplies and materials in accordance with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) regulations.
  6. Washes and folds laundry as per assigned duties.
  7. Monitor and replenish bathroom, housekeeping, laundry and chemical supplies.
  8. Collects and removes garbage and recyclable materials, and ensures the safe disposal of hazardous waste.
  9. Completes and maintains related records and documentation such as maintenance logs and security and resident incident reports.
  10. Ensures a safe and healthy working environment by observing universal (standard) precautions and infection control procedures; removing obvious hazards; reporting faulty equipment, accidents, injuries and near misses; and adhering to and enforcing rules regarding safety.
  11. Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: 
  1. Education, Training and Experience
  2. Grade 12
  3. Certificate in First Aid
  4. Building Service Worker Certificate
  5. Recent, related experience of six months
  6. Skills and Abilities
  7. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  8. Ability to deal with others effectively
  9. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  10. Ability to operate related equipment
  11. Ability to organize work

Compensation

$23.77 - $25.07 per hour
